That is actually The Path. A variety of factors make our ego identities even more stimulated right now on our planet BUT there’s even more support right now as humans awaken worldwide to a more meaningful part of ourselves. The eternal self can be connected with, the ego-mind & ego-identity can be successfully disciplined, worked with and released where it is desired. You’ll see from both the developing psyche’s needs from the Western Psychological perspective & then the mayhem it creates from the Buddhist Meditative Sciences of the Mind how our identity formation then becomes a challenge for us once we become adults. The ego-mind clings to control particularly in the face of change, contributing to stagnancy in adulthood. Let’s thrive anyways!
